First an armature made of wire was made (sorry, no pictures
available). Then Winterstone was used to cover the wire and
bulk up the form. Vitreous glass tiles were added using an epoxy
adhesive, Akepox
2040.
Once the tile was applied, the piece was ready
to be coated with Winterstone with Stainless Steel powder
added. This mixture was also used to grout the tile.
This image shows the dull grey look of the
stainless steel powder before it was sanded, polished and
buffed.
After the piece was polished and buffed the
shine of the stell powder was brought out and it looked a
lot more like metal. This piece has Rennaisance wax applied
to the surface as a final buff and sealant.
