In November I attended a mosaic workshop at Orsoni in Venice. There they will teach you the traditional mosaic method of using Italian smalti which is produced on the premises in basically the same method it has been for years.

I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in mosaic. I don’t think it can get much better than learning the traditional mosaic technique with the traditional mosaic material in the beautiful setting of Venice!

Accommodations and class are held in the Orsoni building in Venice, Italy that has been in the family for years. The upper floor has been converted into the guest house with rooms that feature lovely mosaics, breakfast room and classroom. The lower floor has a mosaic gallery and business offices.

This is an ideal setting for absorbing all that Italy offers for mosaic enthusiasts. As well as class a tour of St. Marks Cathedral or other tours may be available to you. You have the option of 1 or 2 week workshops using the beautiful palate of smalti they manufacture.
