| Carvers from across the world come together to gain inspiration and technical skill at the annual Indiana Limestone Sculpture Symposium. Beginning and advanced carvers are submerges in an environment that allows them to learn about Indiana limestone right from the source - on the grounds of the Bybee Stone Company in Ellettsville, Indiana. Instruction is provided by nationally renown professional carvers with various and extensive experience in sculptural and architectural carving. |

| Session I & II - Workshops will focus on specialized shills, such as lettering, design, splitting blocks and other techniques. Both sessions feature a similar curriculum with different guest instructors. |
| Work on Your Own Session - Provides unstructured carving tim with forklift availability, air and electricity. |

NEW for 2007 Carving the Figure with George Bauer - June 9-13 |
| This dynamic workshop will provide students with studio and on-sire opportunities to develop and hone their figure carving skills. Students will craft a proportional armature in the studio and then work in limestone on the site from the armature model. |
- Day 1 - Eight hours working with a model (four hours drawing, four hours making armature from drawings, using heavy gauge aluminum wire, a wooden board, screws and nails.
- Day 2 - Six hours modeling the figure in foil and Sculpey.
- Day 3 - Roughing out the figure on tire with instruction.
- Day 4 - Roughing out figure on sire with instruction
- Day 5 - Carving with instruction.

Beginners Workshop |
| Tuition for Beginners Workshop is included in registration fee. |
- Day 1 - June 3/June 17: This workshop will cover basic tools, roughing out, and working from a maquette or drawing.
- Day 2 - June 4/June 18: This workshop will introduce carving techniques, how to move stone around, and basic principles of sculpting.

Tools |
| Bring your own tools. After registering, a packet will be sent to you with detailed information and a list of tools needed. The Compleat Sculptor will be on site with a full selection of tools for sale. |

Location |
| The Limestone Symposium is held in Ellettsville, Indiana at the Bybee Stone Company, approximately five miles west of Bloomington. Slide shows will be held at the John Waldron Arts Center, a renovated limestone structure in downtown Bloomington. |

- Ned Cunningham - Head Carver, Bybee Stone Company;
BA Indiana University; he is skilled in portrait, figure, relief and
ornate architectural carving.

- Jason Lindsey - BFA, Indiana University; his technical
skills and aesthetic sensibilities combine to produce a solution to
most sculptural problems.

BFA, California State University, Northridge; she attends symposia and
workshops nationally as a carver and representative for Trow & Holden.

- Janey Westin - Calligrapher and letter cutter since
1980; her sculptures can be found in religious and secular buildings
throughout the US; awards include "Booth Award" for four years
from Minnesota Architects Convention and the 1991 Minnesota "Artists
Award" at the American Craft Council Expo.

- Frank Young - Co-founder of the Symposium; BFA Indiana
University, MFA University of Oregon; he maintains a studio near Ellettsville
and has exhibited regionally for the last 30 years.
