Weldbond in Space |
 |
| Toronto: August 2001: Canada, already famous for the success of
CANADARM in space technology, has now launched a second home-bred
product into the NASA space program Unlike CANADARM, however, this
new product is readily available to most consumers for a hundred uses
around the home. |
| Weldbond, The Universal Space Age Adhesive, has been certified by
NASA for flight on space shuttles. Weldbond has been available to
consumers for four decades and remains the most versatile modern adhesive
on the market. The product was developed by Frank T. Ross & Sons,
a Toronto company founded in 1927 and dedicated to researching and
marketing non-toxic, environmentally responsible products for the
home. |
|
| Blake Ross, Vice-President Sales, believed that NASA had been
using the product for some time, but was reluctant to use the information
in his sales efforts. "Then, one day," Blake says, "our president
received a call from an official at Delta Temax, the company that produces
the liquid cooling garment which is part of the NASA space shuttle crew
escape suit." The call confirmed that NASA had certified Weldbond for
flight on space shuttles. "All I could think of, Blake says, "was
"WOW!", we’re in space!". |
| The company is planning a space-themed, world advertising
program based on the NASA certification to make more people aware of Weldbond
and its many uses in the home, workshop and industrial applications. |
| Launched in Canada in the early 60’s, the unique appeal
of Weldbond is its multi-purpose uses and its safe, non-toxic qualities.
Weldbond will bond almost anything; wood, concrete, foam, laminates, glass
and other materials too numerous to mention. Thinned with water it becomes
a sealer for porous surfaces, brick, block, concrete and an excellent primer/sealer.
It has become one of the most popular, versatile products available anywhere. |
| "Aside from the fact that Weldbond has a myriad of uses",
Blake explains, "much of its world-wide appeal is that it is non-toxic,
contains no solvents, it is not tested on animals and cleans up quickly
with water." |
| Now, when the company says the product is being used around
the world, they can also add bragging rights for outer space. |
