Pourable Polyurethane Casting Compounds

Polyurethane rigid casting compounds are extremely easy to handle, because they have simple mix-ratios and good fluidity. They can be poured into practically any type of mold material with the right release agent (excluding Polysulfides). Certain sensitivities effect them negatively--short shelf life in pre-mixed form and a particularly strong aversion to water. They are available with variable set-up times and can be pigmented for custom work. The listings below are in order of increasing Shore D hardness when cured.

Compleat Cast Tan

CompleatCast Tan is the most durable of the resins and has a longer open time. It has a low viscosity (very thin), a 5 minute open time, and a 7-10 minute demold time. This material yields excellent physical properties and can actually be used for architectural purposes with brads!

KastEZ Resin

KastEZ Resins is used to make casting from rigid and flexible molds. Some of the most common uses of KastEZ Resin are point-of-puchase displays, rapid prototypes, special effects, and sculpture reproductions. However, KastEZ Resin can be used for any application that requires a lightweight, hard plastic. Kast EZ Resin is a two-part polyurethane casting system. KastEZ Resin is mixed one-to-one volume and cures at room temperature. KastEZ Resin begins to get in 1.5 minutes, and cures to a bright white color.

KastEZ Resin requires no mold release when using silicone molds. However polyurethane molds must be prepared by applying the appropriate mold release. Apply the release agent sparingly, while coating all internal surfaces of the mold. Too much release may cover the details of the mold. You should allow the release agent to dry approximately 10 minutes before you pour the casting, If you want to use an in-mold paint you should apply it after the release agent dries.

Feather Lite Liquid Plastic - It Floats In Water!
Feather Lite is a heavily filled low-density urethane casting resin. Cured plastic is lightweight (it floats in water!) and has a much lower density than other casting resins. Feather Lite features a convenient 1A:1B by volume mix ratio and mixes easily (pre-mixing of parts A & B is necessary).Cured plastic is strong and can be carved, machined, drilled, sanded, etc.
Feather Lite can be pigmented with So-Strong color tints prior to casting and finished castings can be painted. And because this product is low-density, it yields more plastic per pound/kg. than other casting resins, the cost per casting is low.

Feather Lite can be used for a variety of art or industrial design related applications including reproducing sculpture, making fishing lures, prototype model making, casting doll heads and figures, and many more applications.

Smooth Cast 300Q
The Smooth Cast 300 Series of liquid plastics are ultra-low viscosity casting resins that yield castings that are bright white and virtually bubble free. Vacuum degassing is not necessary. Smooth-Cast 385 is a mineral filled urethane casting resin that is very hard and durable. When Parts A and B are mixed in proper proportion (1A:5B by weight), the material cures at room temperature with virtually no shrinkage. Smooth-Cast® 385 has high compressive and flexural strength. Roto casting Polyurethane Casting Compounds

Smooth-Cast 65D (formerly Smooth-Cast Roto)
Smooth-Cast 65D is a low viscosity liquid plastic that gradually becomes thicker, making it ideal for rotational casting applications. Castings will be hollow and lightweight but have the appearance of being solid, allowing you to use less material to attain the same finished look (substantially lowering your material costs). Fully cured castings are semi-rigid and exhibit good impact resistance. Castings resist moisture and mild solvents and can be machined, sanded and painted. Smooth-Cast 65D can also be cast solid for a variety of industrial and art-related applications.
