Pourable Semi-Rigid Polyurethane Casting Compounds

Polyurethane semi-rigid casting compounds are extremely easy to handle, because they have simple mix-ratios and good fluidity. They can be poured into practically any type of mold material with the right release agent (excluding Polysulfides). Certain sensitivities effect them negatively--short shelf life in pre-mixed form and a particularly strong aversion to water. They are available with variable set-up times and can be pigmented for custom work. The listings below are in order of increasing Shore D hardness when cured.

Task 11 (Formerly Smooth Cast 1509)
TASK 11 urethane casting resin is a semi-rigid plastic (has some flexibility) that is strong and very tough. Originally developed for high impact tooling (drop hammer punch), TASK 11 also offers good abrasion and chemical resistance and is ideal for a variety of industrial applications.

Task 13 (Formerly Smooth Cast 1515)
TASK 13 is a fast setting two-component urethane that cure quickly to a black semi-rigid plastic. TASK 13 has a pot life of 3 minutes and demold time of 20 minutes.

With a Shore value of 50D, this semi-rigid plastic is used for a variety of industrial applications including fast mold making, fast model duplication, prototyping, durable miniatures, black props and special effects, or making parts that are impact resistant. Fully cured castings are tough, durable and chemical resistant.

Task 14 (Formerly Smooth Cast 1520)

With a Shore value of 50D, these semi-rigid plastics are used for a variety of industrial applications including fast mold making, fast model duplication, prototyping, durable miniatures, black props and special effects, or making parts that are impact resistant. Fully cured castings are tough, durable and chemical resistant.

Smooth-Cast™ 45D & 60D are new low viscosity semi-rigid urethane plastics that are mixed 1A:1B by volume (no scale required), have a pot life of about 3 minutes and a demold time of about 20 minutes (both, depending on mass).

Clear Flex 50
Clear Flex 50-A perfectly clear flexible material that does not need to be vacuum cast. The super-low viscosity allows easy bubble release. This rubber is actually being used more as a casting material than a mold material, but when used for molds, offers the convenience of being able to see through it for easy cutting. Unfortunately, either a heated post-cure or a week at room temperature is required, so time becomes an issue.
